Obituary for Elizabeth Roberts
Funeral service will be held at a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 30, 2014 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Elizabeth Baetjer Roberts (Betty), 86, who died May 26, 2014 at 6:00 pm in Dallas, Texas.
Reverend Hampton Davis, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will be the celebrants.
Interment will be at Carrolton Cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mrs. Roberts, daughter of Kenner Stuart Baetjer and the former Nona O’Sullivan was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Lafayette from 1953 until 2012. She attended Sophie Newcomb College and Tulane College of Commerce and Business Administration in New Orleans. She was manager of Lafayette Geological Log Library in Lafayette from 1974 until retirement in 1996. She was a member of St. John Cathedral where she served on the Cemetery Commission, was a member of the Third Order of the Lay Carmelites, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Evangelistic Ministers to the Homebound, and the Serra Club. She was presented the Bishop’s Medal in 2008.
She was most recently a member of All Saints Parish in Dallas, Texas where she was a member of the Third Order of the Lay Carmelites and the Serra Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Roberts Clark and her husband Daniel of Houston, Texas and Carolyn Roberts Patton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two sons, David Stuart Roberts and his wife Caron of Fort Smith Arkansas, and John Calvin Roberts and his wife Andre’ of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren, Robert Stuart Clark, Anne Cathleen Patton, Mary Elizabeth Patton Cormier (husband Paul), Jane Lillian Patton, Sara Michelle Patton and Joseph Ray Patton, David Oliver Roberts, Matthew Louis Roberts, Kenner Baetjer Roberts, and Charles Harrison Roberts; and two great grandchildren, Gabriel Ryan Patton-Gooch, and Clyde Joseph Cormier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Kenner Stuart Baetjer, Jr. and an infant son.
The family requests that visitation be held at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A Rosary, led by the Third Order of the Lay Carmelites, will be prayed on Thursday at 6:30 P.M. in the funeral home.
