Beverly Eileen Ellison

Rite of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for Beverly Eileen Shriver Ellison, 82, who passed away on March 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. A native of Nebraska, Beverly met the love of her life, Guy, in 1948 while attending college in San Francisco, California. They were married for 62 years. Beverly, a resident of Lafayette, LA since 1957, was the daughter of the late Horace Wayne Shriver and the former Marjorie Lutes. She was truly a gift from God and destined to love and be loved by all she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her calling was serving God through over 50 years of service to the Altar Guilds of the churches she attended, including the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Her true passion was raising her four children to be moral, faithful, and loving. She devoted her life to raising her family and instilled in them the love and humanity that they keep in their hearts and pass on to their children and grandchildren. She relished every accomplishment, no matter how small, of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and sang their praises to all she met. She was the moral compass of the entire family. She loved to play cards, especially Bridge, and infused the entire family with the love of card games. She died with her husband, four children, and best friend by her side. The Reverend Joseph E. Daly, Rector of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, and Reverend Dwayne Peterson will conduct the funeral services. She is survived by her husband, Guy Cornwell Ellison, Sr., two sons, Guy Cornwell Ellison, Jr. and his wife, Julie, Gregory W. Ellison, Sr. and his wife, Jane; two daughters, Carol Ellison Baker and her husband, Stephen, Elizabeth Ellison- Frost and her husband, Scott; seven grandchildren, Guy Cornwell Ellison, III and wife Misty, Blake Wood Ellison, Paige Ellison-Raney and husband, David, Dr. Stephen D. Baker, Jr. and wife, Ashley, Gregory William Ellison, Jr. and wife Emily, John A. Baker and wife, Ellen and Kathryn Eileen Baker; two great grandchildren, Eli David Raney and Sophia Mae Ellison; and one brother, Kenneth Wayne Shriver of Norfolk, Nebraska.. She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Harold Kline and step mother, Lenore Shriver. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Eulogy at 6:30 pm in Lafayette. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Their compassion and empathy for Beverly and the entire family was phenomenal. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Ascension Church Memorial Fund. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and David Raney. Lectors will be her two granddaughters.
