Carl Hebert

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 8, 2016 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Carl Hebert, 80, who passed away on February 4, 2016. Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. What matters is how we live and love…and how we spend our dash. Carl, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Leo Hebert and the former Effie Begnaud. Born in Lafayette, Carl graduated from Cathedral High School and attended the University of Notre Dame on a football scholarship. He graduated in 1958 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked at Unocal for 38 years. After retiring in Lafayette, Carl remained involved with his children and grandchildren, tutoring, motivating, and inspiring them. Carl possessed a devout love for God, a belief in the importance of family, and was a true inspiration to those with whom he came into contact. He was exceedingly proud to be a Notre Dame Man. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sis Calais Hebert; children, Edie Hebert Breaux, David Carl Hebert, Stephanie Hebert Sullivan, Jennifer Hebert Addicks and Aimee Hebert Tellepsen; grandchildren, Kathryn Hernandez, Stephen Hernandez, Michael Hebert, Emily Hebert, Rory Sullivan, Morgan Sullivan, Caitlyn Addicks, Drew Addicks, Elizabeth Addicks, H.T. Tellepsen, IV and Tessa Tellepsen; great grandson, Leo Armendariz; one sister, Carolyn Hutchinson and one brother, Ken Hebert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Stephen Paul Hebert The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Breaux, Billy Addicks, Stephen Hernandez, Michael Hebert, Rory Sullivan, H.T. Tellepsen and Drew Addicks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Patin, Rocco Musumeche, Rich O'Donnell, Ken Hebert and Doug Gonzales. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Hospice of Acadiana, or the Cathedral Carmel School Foundation. We would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Gary Guidry, Dr. Juan Perez, Dr. Patrick Cook, Dr. Patrick Herlihy, Lafayette General Medical Center Emergency Room, ICU, LTAC and his comforting angels: Bernadette, Jean, and Marilyn.
