Durand D. Hebert

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Durand Dale Hebert, 60, who passed away on June 2, 2024. Fr. Mario Romero, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sacred Heart Mausoleum of Broussard, LA. "D", a resident of Broussard, was the son of the late Percy Hebert and the former Eldine Meche. Durand began his career with Sheriff Don Breaux and spent his entire professional career in service to the public as a law enforcement officer. "D" held various roles throughout his career including that of Dignitary Protection for Pope John Paul, Mother Theresa, and President George W. Bush, and also Commander of Criminal Investigations in Iberia Parish. Durand was an avid lover of music and self-taught-musician; he loved his time playing lead and rhythm guitar with "Broken Mojo". "D" loved animals of all sorts and was notorious for picking up strays! In 2022, Durand began working with Optum, a company that assists veterans through a variety of means. It was here that "D" found renewed energy for life by serving veterans. Always one to selflessly serve, Durand will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Desiree Bodoin Hebert; children, Kasie Hebert Gondron (Sully) and Jean Jacques Hebert; grandchildren, Landrie, Charlie, Liam, and Leo; mother, Eldine Meche Benoit; siblings, Doug Hebert (Debbie), Debbie Hebert LeBlanc (Kenny), Daryl Hebert (Cathie), Dianna Hebert Estilette, and Dayton Hebert (Lori); step-siblings, Debbie Benoit, Timmy Benoit, and Mona Hebert. He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Hebert; paternal grandparents, Walter and Amelite Hebert; maternal grandparents, Gladue and Ada Meche; step-father, Ernest Ben Benoit; and step-brother, Tommy Benoit. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Thursday, June 6, 2024 beginning at 10:00AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Thursday morning in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue, following the Rosary, until the time of service. Serving ceremoniously as Pallbearers will be Jean Jacques Hebert, Dayton Hebert, Sully Gondron, and Richard Boudreau. Personal condolences may be sent to the family of Durand D.
