Geri Wallace

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Lois (Geri) Wallace, 81, Pastor Ben Carter of Church Beyond the Walls, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Lois (Geri) Wallace died peacefully at her home of 55 years on Saturday, April 18, 2015. She was born to the late Edward and Elsie Moore on December 9, 1933 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Odell Wallace of Brownwood, Texas. Geri moved with her young family to Lafayette 1957 where she raised her six children. She is survived by Richard Wallace of Lafayette, Susan Wallace of Jackson MS, Summer Kaye Stone of Santa Rosa FL, and Robert Darren Wallace of New Hartford CT. She was preceded in death by a son William Christopher Wallace of Lafayette and a daughter Lisa Gene Wallace-Smith of Lafayette. She is survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In addition she enjoyed a very large extended family. Geri loved family, friends and traveling. She made friends easily and maintained lifelong friendships. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Geri was a member of the PHI wives club for many years, a volunteer for PTA, Boy Scouts, Rainbow girls, and Girl Scouts. She worked at Woodvale Elementary as a volunteer library assistant and delivered Meals on Wheels. She traveled in the United States extensively and traveled to England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, and Guyana. She was a voracious reader and in the time before internet search and even for some time afterward she was the person to call for the quick answer to any question. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours in her garden or on the porch swing. The family request visiting hours be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 11:00 AM until time of services. Personal condolences may be sent to the Wallace family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com.
