Lucille Martin Leblanc

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Lucille Martin LeBlanc, 95, the former Lucille Ann Martin, who died at 6:00 am on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home in Carencro, Louisiana. The Reverend Joe Stemmann, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services, assisted by other members of the Diocese of Lafayette. Musical selections will be provided by Jodi Bollich, Tom Neil, and Laura Baker and will include 'The Lord Is My Shepherd', 'Remember Me', 'Ave Maria', 'Hail Mary Gentle Mother', 'Be Not Afraid', and 'Here I Am Lord'. Reading selections will be read by Michelle Jeanmard and Jacqueline Whittle. Gift bearers will be Jeanne VanBenthuysen, Lindsay Leblanc, and Andrea LeBlanc. Entombment will be held in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, Lucille has been a resident of Lafayette for the past 75 years. She was a graduate of SLI. She was a member of St. Ann;s Altar Society and a volunteer for years at Mount Carmel Cathedral and Cathedral Carmel Schools. She also volunteered as St. Cecilia School and the Broussard Community Fair. She taught at Mount Carmel prior to opening Clay's Phillips 66 Gas Station. In her retirement years she worked part time at LeBlanc Maison de Fruit and La Mode Shoe Store. She also enjoyed playing cards every Wednesday at noon with her friends and also enjoyed doing embroidery work for family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Cecile L. Jeanmard, Pennye' L. Conner and her husband, Dick; two sons, Dr. Clay Charles LeBlanc, Jr. and his wife, Betty, Mark A. LeBlanc; six grandchildren, Jeanne VanBenthuysen, Michelle Jeanmard, Jacqueline Whittle, Lindsay LeBlanc, Andrea LeBlanc, and Richard T. Conner, III. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Vincent and Alex VanBenthuysen, Jacob and Jules Wittle, and Halle Dautriel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay C. LeBlanc, Sr.; her father, Felix Rigg Martin; her mother, Celemanie Breaux, four brothers, Aristide, Felix, Jr., Shelby and Lionel; three sisters, Gussie Romero, Laura Higginbotham, and Yvonne Dupuis. She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Ernest F. Jeanmard; and one daughter-in-law, Eva Bayard LeBlanc. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited by Msgr. Keith DeRouen on Friday at 6:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Richard T. Conner, III, Jimmy Bordelon, Jimmy Whittle, Mark VanBenthuysen, Art LeBlanc, and Michael Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Conner, Kelly Baudoin, Vincent and Alex VanBenthuysen, Jacob and Jules Whittle, and Halle Dautriel. The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff and CN's at Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home for their loving care. A special thanks to Karen, Penny, Courtney, and Natasha for their hours of caring and companionship. Additionally the family would like to express their thanks to Kelly Baudoin for always making her holidays and special occasions so meaningful.
