Funeral Services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers, for Richard Ramond Baron, Sr., 78, who passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Christus Saint Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas. Reverend Hampton Davis, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Lafayette will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place following a Graveside Service in New Orleans at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Reception following. A resident of Lafayette, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne K. Baron; his sons, Rick Baron and his wife Janet Delahoussaye Baron from Lafayette, Bobby Baron from New Orleans, and Jim Baron and his wife Gail Sander Baron from Atlanta, Georgia; and his two daughters, Lisette Baron and her husband Joe Adams from New Orleans, and Michelle Baron Karam and her husband Chris Karam from Texarkana, Texas; his 12 grandchildren, Dana Baron Smith and her husband Brandon Smith, Jessie Sellers, Kimberly Baron, Julie Sellers and Danielle Baron; Erica Karam Girouard and her husband Chris Girouard, Mitchel Karam and Amelie Karam; and Ally Baron, Krisin Baron, Elise Baron and Eric Baron; his two great-grandchildren, Baron David Girouard and Evelyn Jane Girouard. He is also survived by his two brothers, Stanley Alphonse Baron, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida and David Hyland Baron of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Alphonsus Baron, Sr. and the former Minnie Hyland of New Orleans. A native of New Orleans, Richard and Anne moved to Lafayette in 1963. He enjoyed living in Lafayette, raising his family, Cajun dancing and made many friends along the way. A great joy for Richard was taking his entire family on annual summer vacation trips to the gulf beaches. Earlier trips with his wife and children included white water rafting down the Colorado RIver and horse packing up the Grand Teton Mountains. Retired in February 2013, he worked as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley, and its predecessor firms, for 46 years. A proud Tulane graduate, Richard was also an avid tennis player, earning the ranking of first in singles in the South Region of USTA tournament play when he was 65 years old. He was very gregarious, enjoyed the company of others and made people feel very special with his warm personality. Richard greatly enjoyed being with his family and friends and will be missed by many. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Christus St. Michael Foundation, 2600 St. Michael Drive, Texarkana, TX 75501.
