Alice Lastrapes Carlin

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 2, 2022 in St. Mary of the Mother Catholic Church for Alice Lastrapes Carlin, 91, who passed away on August 30, 2022. Reverend Cedric Sonnier, Pastor, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Readers will be her granddaughters, Jenifer Rohrberger and Brooke McNeely. Giftbearers will be her granddaughters, Claire Delmarter, Emily Scott, and Elizabeth Bassett. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Alice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and sang in the choir for over 25 years. She enjoyed participating in a rosary group, bourr'e group and enjoyed being with people. She was an avid LSU fan, never missing a football or baseball game. When she wasn't cheering on the Tigers, Maw Maw Alice spent her time perfecting her beautiful garden and teaching her grandchildren how to play Bourr'e and Cadillac. Alice, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Harold Lastrapes, Sr. and the former Hevrard "Lulie" Comeaux. She is survived by her four children, Douglas (Dianne) Carlin, Brenda (Randy) Bertrand, Don (Amy) Carlin, and Janice (Butch) Ousse; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Gloria Lastrapes, Nina Carlin; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Carlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Carlin; siblings, Harold Lastrapes, Jr., Edward Lastrapes, Frances Mistrot, Betty Lastrapes and Jeanne Lastrapes; two nephews, Brad Carlin, and Drew Carlin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM by Bonnie Bourdier. The family request any donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or Heart of Hospice. The family would like to give special thanks to Complete Home Health, Jennifer Hall, and the wonderful staff of Heart of Hospice. Heartfelt love and thanks to her sitters, all of whom became family, Ms. Mavis (9 years), Ms. Lou, Ms. Dee, and Ms. Lou's staff. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Christopher Drew Carlin, Jack Oliver Carlin, Andrew Paul Bertrand, Thomas Brandon McNeely, Nick Edwin Ousse and her son in law, Butch Ousse.
