Anna Trosclair Boutte

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 23, 2007, at a Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel of the Flowers at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette, Louisiana for Anna Trosclair 'Trosy' Boutte, who passed away peacefully at home with her daughters surrounding her on February 18, 2007. The Rev. Keith J. DeRouen, pastor of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Internment will take place at St. John Cemetery. Karen Broussard, organist and vocalist, will sing for the services, ''Be Not Afraid,' 'Ave Maria,' 'Our Father,' and 'Wind Beneath My Wings.' Pallbearers will be Michael and Eric Guidry, Brian and Scott Driesse, Matte Boutte, William and Byron Trosclair, and Ronnie Shaw. Honorary pallbearers include Todd Guidry, Craig Driesse, Walter Glod, and Roland Liberda. A long time resident of Lafayette, Anna was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Gracien Trosclair and Marie Clement Trosclair on November 3, 1916. After graduating as a registered nurse from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans, she married the love of her life, Howard G. Boutte, on April 20, 1940. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2005 just before Howard's death in June 2005. Together they raised four children who all went on to make them proud. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands: Pat and Roland Guidry of Destin, Florida; Linda and Ed Driesse of Lafayette, and Elaine and Hugh Roberts of Austin, Texas, and one daughter-in-law, Dr. Sharon Cleghorn Boutte of Plano, Texas. Anna is also survived by grandchildren: Michael Guidry of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Todd and Egla Guidry of Madrid, Spain; Eric Guidry of Boulder, Colorado; Brian and Brooke Driesse of LaJolla, California; Craig Driesse of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Scott Driesse of Danbury, Connecticut.; Matthew Howard Boutte of Ft. Worth, Texas and by great-granddaughters Amber Driesse of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Khloe Guidry of Madrid, Spain. Also surviving Anna are her older sisters Nora Shaw and Marie Gaudet, as well as her younger brother Louis Trosclair. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard G. Boutte, her son Ken Boutte, granddaughter Tracy Boutte, her parents, sister Velma Lagarde, and brother William Trosclair, Sr. Moving to Lafayette in 1955, the Bouttes were well known in the oil community and had many friends. Anna was a long time member of the Lafayette Geological Society. She was also a parishioner of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. One of her proudest accomplishments was being selected as the 1972 winner of the Advertiser 'Best Cook in Acadiana Contest.' Before her illness, Anna and Howard were active members at the Lafayette General Wellness Center and enjoyed their casino trips and visits to their children and relatives. She was an avid reader, reading two newspapers a day, and she could tell you what was going on just about anywhere. People were amazed at how alert she was right up to the end. An ardent Texas Aggie supporter, she loved her 'Aggie Mom' title. More than the Aggies however, Anna loved her little Scottish terrier 'McGraw' who passed away last Thanksgiving. She quietly touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved this lady with the big smile and the expressive eyes. The family would like to thank her faithful and loyal friends Loretta and Walter Glod, her favorite priest Father Keith, and Eucharistic minister Kirby Boudreaux for continuing to brighten her days with regular visits. Special thanks go to the staff of Complete Home Health and especially to Glenda Webster, LPN; Tyree Brown, LPN; Debbie Murray, LPN; and Ginnette Pommier, RN. Special thanks also go to Yulonda Brown, LPN and Karl Kuhne, her physical therapist. All these 'special angels' enhanced her quality of life with their care, love , and laughter these past two years. Thanks also go to her Drs. Kenneth McCarron, Vernon Valentino, Maximo Lamarche, Gary Guidry, and Bradley Chastant and to Mr. Dale Boudreaux. The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday from 5 PM until 8 PM, with a rosary led by Rev. Keith DeRouen at 6 PM. It will continue at 9 AM Friday until the time of the services.
