Anna Lee Broussard

Funeral services will be conducted for Ms. Anna Lee Broussard, 82, at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 14, 2009 in the Delhomme Funeral Homes' Chapel of the Flowers located at 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. A native of Lafayette, Anna Lee died Monday evening, May 11, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center after a lenghty illness. Anna Lee was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Anna Lee was in the banking business for 26 years with Guaranty Bank & Trust Company. She also served as a Pink Lady volunteer at Lafayette General Medical Center for 30 years, serving as the organization's treasurer for much of her time with the Pink Ladies. She loved her volunteer work at the hospital. Her dedication to her service led to her appointment to the Board of Trustees of Lafayette General Medical Center. She was the first female elected to the Board of Trustees. After many years of service, she retired from her position to become a full time grandmother. She was famous for her Rum Cakes, which she baked often for family and friends. "Momo" was well known as one of the greatest grandmothers in the world. She was always there when her children and most importantly her grandchildren were in need. She always put her family first. She loved to travel and was able to enjoy many trips across the US and around the world. She loved to be with family and friends as she loved to be part of all of her children's and grandchildren's activities. She sat through many a dance review, swim meet, football game, basketball game, baseball game and track and cross-country meet. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her two sons, James K. Broussard of Lafayette and his two children, Carrie Broussard Artigue of Lafayette and James Ross Broussard of Houston, Texas and Gary L. Broussard and his wife, Cecile Langlinais Broussard of Lafayette and their three children, Brett Louis Broussard and his fiance Lauren E. Landry, Bennett James Broussard and Claire Elise Broussard all of Lafayette. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Lovenia Broussard, a sister, Hazel Broussard and her brother Chester L. Broussard. The family would like to thank all caregivers at Cornerstone South, all doctors, nurses and staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. A special thank you should be noted to Ms. Leslie Leger, Chris Mire and Hileria Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette.
