Annie Ruth Flournoy

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, February 17, 2023, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Annie Ruth Flournoy, 90, who passed away on February 7, 2023. Reverend Connor Poirrier will conduct the funeral services. The family will have a private burial at a later date in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Annie Ruth was born on May 6, 1932, in Patroon, Texas to Luther Jefferson Cash and Gladys Vivian Giles. She moved to Louisiana with her husband and young family in 1955, but always remained loyal to her roots. Annie Ruth was a devoted wife and mother who considered her job as homemaker the most important work that she did. Once her children were grown, she worked outside of the home as a bookkeeper, an offshore caterer, where she was able to showcase her incredible cooking skills, and in sales for Evangeline Downs. Annie had both a fun loving and witty spirit. She loved deeply and laughed often. She had a fearlessness about her, confronting life’s ups and downs with courage and grace. Annie had a great sense of style and loved to look and feel pretty. She also loved a neat, clean home and yard, and took great pride in both. Her yard was adorned with plants and flowers, and Annie could often be seen on her riding lawn mower wearing her big, straw hat, well into her 80’s. Annie enjoyed a simple and uncomplicated life. Riches and possessions were never what was important to her. Small acts of kindness meant more to her than any gift that money could buy. Her greatest treasures were Our Lord, her family, and her beloved Boston Terrier, Zoe. Annie will be loved and remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia L. Flournoy Perkins; grandson, Corey (Lisa) Perkins; great granddaughters, Adaline and Sophia Perkins, and daughter-in-law, Zellie Flournoy. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Ray Flournoy; sister, Mary Alice Davis, and brother, Aaron Thomas Cash. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM time of service.
