Aubrey Joseph Cormier

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Aubrey Joseph Cormier, 66, who passed away on December 17, 2009 at 1:08PM at Lafayette General Medical Center. Brother Brad Sons, Pastor of Family Life Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in St. Joseph #2 Cemetery in Rayne, Louisiana. Mr. Cormier, a resident of Scott, Louisiana, was the son of the late Louis Cormier of Mire, Louisiana and the late former Ada Quibodeaux of Mire, Louisiana. He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 in Rayne. Mr. Cormier was a two term Viet Nam Veteran in the Army and received the Purple Heart as well as many other commendations. He worked at PHI for 21 years and Air Logistics for 15 years. He was also on the board at the credit union for PHI. He enjoyed horticulture, reading, the history of the military and was an avid Saints fan. He also enjoyed attending his grandsons football and baseball games. He is survived by is wife of 29 years, Frances Thibodeaux Cormier of Scott; one daughter Chrystal Thibodeaux Johnson and fiancee Robert Ritter of Scott; one son, Dudley Joseph Thibodeaux and wife Shelette of Rayne; six grandchildren, Seth Mikeal Johnson, Holden Paul Johnson, Shanna Marie Thibodeaux, Katie Jade Thibodeaux, Riley Michelle Thibodeaux and Dominic Joseph Thibodeaux; three sisters, Vernice Owens of Rayne, Joyce Guidry of Vidor, TX, and Jeanette Alleman of Scott, two brothers, Curtiss Cormier of Vidor, TX and Austin Cormier of Rayne, LA; four sisters in law; three brothers in law and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, Deborah Trimble, and two brothers in law, Wilbert Owens and Chester Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, December 18, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service. A rosary was recited at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 pm. at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Dudley Joseph Thibodeaux, Seth Mikeal Johnson, Holden Paul Johnson, Austin Cormier, Curtis Cormier and Robert Ritter.
