Barbara Ann Guidroz

Barbara Ann Guidroz passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on Saturday, January 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on April 28, 1950. She is survived by her four brothers and their spouses: Jimmy Guidroz (Larayne), Carl Guidroz (Kathy), Michael Guidroz (Debbie) and Cooper Guidroz (Roxanne). She was lovingly and affectionately known as “Super Taunte” by her nephews, niece, and grand-nephews: Collin Guidroz (Lacey), Chase Guidroz (Kylie), Tyler Guidroz (Julia), Jacob Guidroz (Natasha), Shayne Guidroz, Emily Guidroz, Landon Guidroz, Eli Guidroz, and Parish Guidroz. She is also survived by many cousins, family, and friends whom she cherished. She leaves behind her beloved dachshund, Oliver. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Joseph and Lucy Potier Guidroz. Barbara graduated from Lafayette High School in 1968 and then earned a degree in accounting from USL. She began a fruitful 47-year career right out of high school as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She went on to spend the rest of her career working as an accountant for Pat McCarthy Ltd, Non-Magnetic Tools, Acadian Hills Country Club, and Gerami’s Floors until her retirement. Barbara was an avid reader from an early age, and she maintained that love for reading her entire life. She loved all things Disney and loved spending time with family and friends, especially her nephews and niece whom she aggressively spoiled as much as possible. She constantly emphasized their connection as cousins and encouraged them to always remain connected. The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana for their wonderful care for Barbara, specifically Jessica Hollier, RN, Breann Powell, Tanya Kramer, Mallory Guillotte, RN, Abe Cartahanna, and Charlotte Jagneaux. Their compassion, courtesy, and professionalism was exceptional. In addition, Sharon Dorr and Paula Crawford provided so much calming support in their roles as caregivers for Barbara. The family is eternally grateful. Lastly, the family would like to thank Barbara’s long-time friend, supporter, and cohort, Joey Moss, for his years of devoted friendship, love and care.
