Barbara Perron Pettit

Funeral services will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home's Chapel of the Flowers on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. for Barbara Perron Pettit, 92, who passed away peacefully on October 16, 2022. Her grandson, Reverend Neil Pettit, pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, will officiate the service. Barbara was a native of Ville Platte, LA, born on March 23, 1930. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Ville Platte, and then Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Upon graduation she became a teacher, and later a librarian until her marriage to her husband Robert (Bob) Pettit. Barbara was proud of her community service as a member of the Lafayette Service League (now Junior League), where she was involved in many community projects, including theater and the University Art Museum (now Hilliard Art Museum). She enjoyed traveling and was especially fond of Israel, as well as Hawaii. Her faith in the Lord Jesus was unshakable, and she looked forward to her final eternal home with Him. Surviving family members are her sons, Mike Pettit and his wife Scarlet of Lafayette and Richard Pettit of Kaneohe, HI; stepson Robert Pettit and his wife Lilian of Cuautla, Mexico; grandchildren, Claire Pettit Arabie and her husband Alan, Rev. Neil Pettit, Carl Pettit and his wife Heidi, Jeffry Rundell, Daniel Pettit and Kevin Pettit; great-grandchildren, Marie, Seth, Eli, and Hannah Arabie, Michel and Charlotte Pettit; siblings Lorraine Meyers McCann, Milton Perron, Loretta Michel, Dorothy Perron, and brothers-in-law Patrick McCann and Don Michel, and sister-in-law Sondra Perron. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Pettit, her parents Gilbert and Corrine Perron, brother Gilbert Perron, Jr., stepdaughter Sharon Rundell and her husband John, grandchildren Brett Rundell and Dani Pettit, and brother-in-law L.J. Meyers. Pallbearers will be Carl Pettit, Alan Arabie, Jeffry Rundell, Chris Michel, Richard Pettit, and Mike Pettit. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place immediately following at Fountain Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
