Beauford "Mel" Lampman

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mr. Beauford "Mel" Lampman. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Reverend Weldon Moak, First Baptist Church of Broussard, will officiate the service. A private burial will be held immediately following the service. A resident of Lafayette, Mel died surrounded by his family at Garden View Assisted Living in Lafayette, LA on February 11, 2025. He was born in Lacrosse, WI and raised in Bellflower, CA. He graduated from Excelsior High School in 1952 and went to work for Standard Oil of California. In 1970, the oil industry brought him to Lafayette, where he had a long and successful career in the oil industry. He retired in 1997 and moved to Toledo Bend where he lived for 18 years. Mel was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He and his wife, Dianne, moved back to Lafayette in 2015. He loved getting together with family and friends. He was a generous man and well loved by so many, living life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by so many people, especially his family. Mel is survived by his twin sister, Beverly Mae Hoover of Gazelle, CA. One daughter, Tami Diane Lampman Diaz, one son, Steven Miles Lampman and his wife Linda Touchet Lampman; two step-sons, Dennis Todd May and his wife, Cheryl Massa May, Alan Kent May and spouse, Alex Lopez. Six grandchildren, Amy Lampman Conatser, Erich Lampman and his wife, Jordon Moeller-Lampman, James Travis Hunter, Lyndsey Scott Hunter and wife, Holly DeLeon-Hunter, Lauren May, and Katie May Nickel and husband, Cody Nickel. Seven great-grandchildren, Mark Alan Leon, Lorynn Lejeune, Taryn Lejeune, Grayson Miles Lampman, Elijah Cohen Lampman, Memphis Mae Hunter, and Evelyn May Nickel. One great-great-grandson, Emmett Lejeune. His niece Sheryl Kiebler, nephew Jeffery Miles DeLange, and a host of great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Dianne Hollier Lampman of Lafayette, parents, Frank Milton Lampman and Mayme Hayter Lampman. His half-brothers, Ralph Milton Lampman Thorntson and Robert Lampman; his paternal grandparents, Levi Arthur Lampman and Leota Lula Kenison; maternal grandparents, Elisha Edmund Hayter and Mary Elizabeth Walling; his mother-in-law, Vernell Breeding Hollier, and father-in-law, Warren Joseph Hollier; brother-in-law, James Trent Hollier; and son-in-law, Charles Diaz. The family would like to extend special thanks to the entire staff at Garden View Assisted Living as well as Hospice of Acadiana's physicians and nurses. Special thanks to Racheal Landor and the other devoted sitters, who provided compassionate care for Dad.
