Bernice Picard

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Bernice Picard, (sometimes referred to as Saint Bernice by her children) 86 years of age, a devoted and loving mother who passed away peacefully at her home in Maurice, LA. Reverend Aaron Melancon, Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Milton, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Milton. Mrs. Picard, a resident of Maurice, LA, was the daughter of the late Alcee Vincent and Agnes B. Vincent. She was born in Abbeville but was a long time resident of Milton, La. She was a life long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milton. As a young widowed mother, Bernice went back to school to start a 20-year career with First National Bank, retiring as a Bank Officer. In her retirement years, Bernice took on the job of raising her fourth child. She was a woman with a generous heart and unending love of her children and family. She is survived by her four children, Barbara S. Bourgeois, Sandra S. Boulet and husband, Randy, Janet S. Williams, and Ryan Picard and wife Elaine; seven brothers, Ophe Vincent, Nicholas Vincent, Roy Vincent, Jules Vincent, Robert Vincent, Preston Vincent and baby brother, Jim Vincent; six grandchildren, Alicia Breaux, Allison Lavergne, Kelli Cormier, Danica Gibbens, Jacob Williams, Abram Williams; eight great grandchildren, Adam Menard, Brandon Menard, Tyler Lavergne, Kaitlyn Cormier, Karli Cormier, Corey Gibbens, Remi Gibbens, Liem Williams and one great great grandchild, Aiden Menard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Lynn Steiner; her mother, Agnes B.Vincent; her father, Alcee Vincent; her brother, Francis Vincent, and her sister, Bertha V. Domec. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and continue Tuesday from 8:00 am to time of services. A rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Preston Vincent, Jim Vincent, Kevin Cormier, Jacob Williams, Abram Williams and Tyler Lavergne. Honorary pallbearers will be Ophe Vincent, Nick Vincent, Roy Vincent, Jules Vincent and Robert Vincent.
