A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in St. Peter Catholic Church - Carencro for Bertha Ann Meche, 79, who passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at her home. Reverend Steve LeBlanc will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Readers will be Joshua McGrew and Amber McGrew. Gift Bearers will be Mya McGrew, Sophia McGrew and Nora McGrew. Burial will take place in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery - Carencro. Bertha, a resident of Carencro for over 54 years, was the daughter of the late Warren Burleigh and the former Azalie Prejean. Some of her most treasured moments were when she became a member of the Saint Anne Society, the birth of her grandson and her great grandkids and the times she spent with her family. She was an LPN nurse for over 23 years working at several local nursing homes, Evangline Oaks, Cornerstone North, and Amelia Manor. Graduating in the top 10 of her class, nursing was not only a career, but it was her passion and truly her calling. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. She will be dearly missed, and her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. She is survived by her daughter Pam McGrew (Hollis) her grandson Joshua McGrew (Amber) and her great grandkids Mya Noelle McGrew, Sophia Helen McGrew and Nora June McGrew, her siblings, Frank Burleigh of Lafayette, Joseph Burleigh of Alexandria, Hilda LaSalle of Lafayette and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ewel J. Meche and her beloved son Wayne J. Meche; her parents, Warren Joseph Burleigh and Azalie Prejean Burleigh; her sisters, Iris Venable, Marjorie Burleigh and Anna Bell Burleigh. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Catholic Daughters will pray the Rosary at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hollis McGrew, Joshua McGrew, Troy Martin, Preston Walter, Kenneth Venable and Steve Venable.
