Betty Sebastian Franques

Betty Sebastian Franques passed away the evening of June 4, 2008 at Camelot of Broussard following a complicated rehabilitation after a fall last December. She will be remembered at a memorial service to be held at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension at a date to be arranged later. She was born on February 4, 1920 in Shreveport, La and after marrying Leo Franques, she spent a majority of her life in Lafayette. She enjoyed many years of employment as an executive assistant and later enjoyed many social events with Leo, such as LAGCOE, as well as traveling to Europe and Asia. She enjoyed bridge with friends and had an ardent interest in following stocks and discussing current financial markets with peers. She was a Pink Lady with Lafayette General Hospital volunteers from 1986 to 2008 and was honored to have been selected Pink Lady of the Year for 2006-2007. She was a wonderful matriarch of her family and treasured sharing her gifts of financial acumen, life experiences, wit and love with each of us. Her most treasured role was that of 'NAN' to her grandson, Rhett, who was the joy of her life, and to her great grandson, Sebastian. She was preceded by her parents, Ethel and William Sebastian, her brother, Daniel Sebastian and her husband, Leo Franques. Her survivors include, her daughter, Sharon Grebe and husband Herbert of Lafayette, LA, her grandson, Rhett Russo, wife Katrin and great grandson, Sebastian of Brooklyn, NY, her nephew, Howard Franques, Jr. and wife Patsy of Lafayette, LA, her nieces, Ann Compton and husband John of Springfield, MO, Mary Koenig and husband, Joseph of Harrison, AK and sister in law Margaret Sebastian and nephew Daniel of Wheat Ridge, CO The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the staff of Camelot, and especially to her nurses, Lauren, Peggy, Marie, and Bill for their care and concern and to all her friends whose calls and visits meant so much in the past few months.
