A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Catherine G. Duhon, 87, who passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 4:39 am at her residence. Celebrant of the Mass will be Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, and Con Celebrant will be Msgr. Charles Mallet. Lectors will be Anita Cormier and Roxann Duhon. Giftbearers will be Debbie Duhon, Meagan Duhon and Kaitlyn Broussard. Joni Hamilton, organist and soloist, accompanied by Justin Broussard, guitarist, will sing for the service. Interment will be held in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan, LA Mom had two great devotions in life, her Catholic faith, and her family. She was a true matriarch. She was the rudder that steered our lives. Her prayers centered on her family and we find comfort in the fact that our prayers will now be joined with hers as our guiding angel. She rests in peace with her beloved husband, son, and eldest grandson with whom she had a special bond. She is survived by four children, Anita Cormier and her husband Gerald, Theresa Stelly and her husband Mark, Daniel W. Duhon and his wife Debbie and Roxann Duhon; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Duhon; ten grandchildren, Donald Cormier (Tammy), Ronald Cormier (Tina), Bridget Cormier Jones (Paul), Lauren Duhon, Andrea Duhon, Roicy (Tiger) Duhon, III, Christopher Stelly, Kevin Stelly, Meagan Duhon and Daniel J. Duhon (Anna); fourteen great grandchildren, Shaun Cormier, Michelle Cormier, Ashlee Fowler, Christopher Sunderland, Amber Sunderland, Darrion Cormier, Eric Cormier, Victoria Trahan, Tyler Cormier, Jaymee Cormier, Justin Broussard, Kaitlyn Broussard, Addison Jones and Ava Grace Duhon; and one sister, Fredoline Revis of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roicy Duhon, Sr.; her son, Roicy Duhon, Jr.; one grandson, Bobby Cormier; one great grandson, Scott Phillip Cormier; one great great granddaughter, Bella Lynn Duke; her parents, John Sebastian Greiser and the former Irene Augusta Lowery; and two brothers and three sisters. The family requests that visiting hours be observed in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 9:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Daniel W. Duhon, Donald Cormier, Ronald Cormier, Mark Stelly, Roicy Duhon, III and Daniel J. Duhon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Stelly, Kevin Stelly, Gerald Cormier, Paul Jones and her great grandsons. The family would like to thank the Staff of Paramount Hospice especially Cindy Darby, Byrd Adams and Greg Hebert for their compassionate care and special friendship given Mrs. Duhon. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Bridget Jones, for her loving diligent care of Mom.
