Catherine Ann Montesano Orgeron

Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Catherine Ann Montesano Orgeron, who passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery in Lafayette. Catherine Ann Montesano Orgeron was the beloved wife of David B. Orgeron, devoted mother of Thomas, Stephen and Claire Orgeron, and cherished daughter of John and Dorothy Montesano. Cathy, affectionately known as 'Cat' or 'Catrina' to her friends and family, was a native and life long resident of Lafayette. Cathy graduated from Lafayette High in 1973 and obtained her B.A. in lower education from USL in 1976 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She went on to finish her Master's degree in Special Education from LSU and her Educational Specialist plus 30 from LSU. Her teaching career began at Nicholson Elementary, then Wildwood Elementary of East Baton Rouge Parish, Acadian Middle School and Judice Elementary of Lafayette Parish. Her administrative experience began as Assistant Principal at Woodvale Elementary. She then succeeded as Principal of Green T. Lindon until 1998 when she retired from education. Later she worked as General Manager for her family's enterprises, and then retired once more as a Real Estate Agent for Keller Williams. Cathy served as a Board Member for St. Thomas More Catholic High School and attended St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a member and a royal maid in the Krewe of Bonaparte. Apart from her family, Cathy enjoyed life, snow skiing, bargain shopping, working in her yard, fishing, Friday nights at LaFonda's, traveling, relaxing on the beach, and foremost, laughing with her buddies. Joining her husband, children, and parents as survivors are her mother-in-law, Rita L. Orgeron; one sister, Susan M. Vincent and husband, Ronnie; three brothers, Bubba Montesano and his wife, Carla, Bruce Montesano and his wife, Stacy, and Bill Montesano and his wife, Michele; two sisters-in-law, Melodye Hebert and her husband, Wayne, Dionne Parker and her husband, Bill; and two brothers-in-law, Keith Orgeron and his wife, Arlene, and Phillip Orgeron; and many nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are her longstanding friends, Lisa, Debbie, Rox, Jerry, Annette and Barbara. Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis and Alma Broussard, and Joseph and Molli Montesano; and her father-in-law, Richard Orgeron. Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday in the Delhomme Bertrand Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Bubba Montesano, Bruce Montesano, Bill Montesano, Philip Orgeron, Wayne Hebert, and Keith Orgeron.
