Charles Lionel Becnel Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2025 in Holy Cross Catholic Church for Charles Lionel Becnel, Jr. who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the age of 87. Reverend Andrew Schumacher, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Charles Lionel Becnel, Jr. was born on February 21, 1938, the son of the late Charles Lionel Becnel, Sr. and the former Marion Moore. He was a resident of Lafayette and a native of Baton Rouge. Charles was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a 1956 graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. He furthered his education at LSU, where he obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree. Charles enjoyed a lengthy career with Texaco. He instilled in his children the value of work ethics, as well as service and volunteerism. While serving on a number of boards, he also volunteered his time at his children’s schools; serving as a baseball and soccer coach and swim team starter and stroke judge. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing in Grand Isle and spending time at False River with his family. In retirement, he and his wife, Linda, spent time traveling the world. Charles is survived by his children, Mark Becnel and wife, Denise, Mike Becnel and wife, Kelli, and daughter, Alison Becnel; grandchildren, Lauren Becnel Marsiglia (Philip), Ashley Becnel, Benjamin Becnel, Chad Becnel (Leslie), Steele Becnel (Sarah), Cole Ives and Connor Ives, Brittany Ives Brown (Adam), and Cameron Ives (Brianna); great-grandchildren, Luke Marsiglia, Jack Marsiglia, Molly Marsiglia, Sam Becnel, Charlie Becnel, Caroline Becnel, Wesley Becnel, Mila Brown, Brooks Brown, Beckett Brown, Chandler Ives, and Kendall Ives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lionel Becnel, Sr. and Marion Moore Becnel; his wife of 58 years, Linda Allred Becnel, and brother, Marion Oliver Becnel. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment will follow the mass at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Mark Becnel, Mike Becnel, Chad Becnel, Steele Becnel, Ben Becnel, Philip Marsiglia, Cole Ives, and Connor Ives. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great grandsons.
