Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Charles Douglas Moore, 81, who passed away on March 31, 2025. Deacon Art Bakeler will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Charles Douglas Moore was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. A true New Orleans Saints fan. Charles was a Navy veteran who served his country with pride. During his time of service, he met his lovely wife of 53 years, Gerry. They moved to Louisiana after a short stay in the Dallas area working for General Dynamics. After moving back to Lafayette Louisiana, Charles had a short stay with a local helicopter company before starting to work with Air Logistics. He had an exemplary career with Air Logistics starting at ground level and reaching upper management where he had the opportunity to travel the world. During his life with Gerry and the Mosley family he discovered a love for bluegrass and gospel music. During the past 60 years he taught himself to play harmonica, wooden whistle, guitar, mandolin, and piano. He was a true family man that doted on his daughters and granddaughters (otherwise known as Charlie’s Angels) teaching them to fish, crab, and throw a cast net. The same went for his great grandsons when they came along. He will always be remembered for his story telling ability, sarcastic humor, amazing laugh, contagious smile, and sparkling blue eyes. Mr. Moore, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Edmund C. Moore, Jr., and the former Gloria Calhoun. He is survived by his significant other, Patty Culver; 2 daughters, Kendra Ann Moore Baudoin and husband, Bennett, and Dana Michelle Moore Gautreaux and husband, Kevin.; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Melanson, Ashlyn Gautreaux, and Kaelyn Murphy and husband, James; 2 step granddaughters, Amber Drewett, and Logan Baudoin; 4 great grandchildren, Aiden Cummins, Riley Cummins, Gavin Cummins, and Asher Murphy; sister, Frances Otto, and brothers, Gary Moore and Robert Mosley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Gerry) Mosley Moore; son, Charles Douglas Moore, Jr., brothers, Edmond C. Moore, III and Jimmy Mosley, sister-in-law, Nancy Simmons Mosley; niece, Robin Amanda Mosley; nephew, Harold Robert Mosley, II. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm on Wednesday evening followed by music at 6:30 pm. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday, from 9:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Kevin Gautreaux, Bennett Baudoin, Lucas Melanson, Riley Cummins, Robert Mosley, Aiden Cummins, and James Murphy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Moore, Gavin Cummins and Asher Murphy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
