Funeral services will be Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Cheryl Simoneaux Rutherford who passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at her residence in Lafayette. Reverend Austin Leger will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2009 in the Cherry Grove Baptist Cemetery in Mittie, Louisiana, Born April 9, 1947, Cheryl spent her life in Lafayette working for several car dealerships including Bickham Lincoln Mercury, Acadiana Dodge and for the last 13 years, Moss Motors as Head Title Clerk. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jack Rutherford, her son, Greg Prejean and her mother, Eunice Simoneaux. Also surviving are two step-children, Jim Rutherford and Cheryl Dohmann and her husband, Richard; three sisters, Barbara Peyton and her husband, Charles of Lafayette, Bonnie Touchet and her husband, Jessie of Milton, Debbie Frederick and her husband, Herman of Maurice, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five nieces and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Weston Simoneaux, her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Agnes Alleman Duhon, and her paternal grandparents, Simon and Esther Leger Simoneaux of Sunset, Louisiana. The family would like to express its deep gratitude to the Moss Motors family and especially Sharon and Coury Moss for support and help during their time of need. They would also like to thank Dr. Don Langford and Cheryl Leigh for her full time care of her step-mother, over the last few days. Pallbearers will include her nephews, Joey Touchet, Chuck Peyton, Brent Frederick, Ty Frederick and Cory Delahoussaye, her stepson, James Rutherford. Honorary pallbearers will include Greg Prejean, Charles Peyton,Jessie Touchet,Herman Frederick, Richard Dohmann, Blake Venable and Chris Cormier. Visiting hours will be observed Saturday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and continue Sunday from 10:00 am to the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Saturday evening in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cheryl Rutherford Memorial Fund at First National Bank for her special son.
