Christina Louise Landry Emling

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana for Christina Louise Landry Emling, 53, who passed away on October 1, 2023. Very Rev. Father Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of The Cathedral, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Interment will take place in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Christina, a resident of Sunset, was born on June 30, 1970 to Gilbert Francis Landry and the former Brenda Louise Loveless. Christina attended Cathedral Carmel School and graduated from St. Thomas More Catholic High School in 1988. Shortly after high school she moved to south Florida with her parents but after a few years came back home to Lafayette. She married Jack Emling and became an instant mom to 2 beautiful boys, Alex and Christopher who she loved as her own. Together Christina and Jack welcomed 2 more sons, William and Charles. Christina loved her family’s annual beach trip, fishing, celebrating Mardi Gras and was always up for a good time. She had a true mother’s heart and did everything she could to care for everyone around her. Family was most important to her but her pride and joy were her boys. Everything she did revolved around them. With her sons, she became very involved with the Krewe of Camelot for many years and also began substitute teaching. In that she found a love for educating children and went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from the University of Louisiana-Monroe in 2019 and worked as a Paraprofessional supporting students with special needs at LJ Alleman in Lafayette up until her passing. Christina is survived by her sons, William Francis Emling, and Charles David Emling,; stepson, John Alexis Emling (Samantha); parents, Gilbert and Brenda Landry; the father of her sons, Jack Emling; stepdaughter-in-law, Naomi Emling; step-grandchildren, Kemper, Leo, Evelyn, Isabella, and Malcolm Emling; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends left to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Virginia Landry; maternal grandparents, Joe David and Ruby Loveless; uncles, Joe Loveless, James Loveless, and Raymond Loveless; aunts, Debbie Landry and Darlene Loveless; and her stepson, Christopher Robinson Emling. Upholding the honor as Pallbearers will be her boys: Alex Emling, William Emling, and Charles Emling. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christina’s name to DREAMS Foundation of Acadiana.
