Clyde Edward Rogers

Chapel of the Flowers for Clyde Edward Rogers, 85, who passed away on August 16, 2009 at 3:10 pm at his residence. Mr. Rogers, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Willie Fletcher Rogers of Anacoco, LA and the former Mabel Ducharme of Lafayette, LA. He was a member of St. Mary Church. Clyde was a resident of Lafayette since 1927. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed racing boats, cars and motorcycles. He spent the majority of his retirement relaxing at his farm. He was a wonderful father and was extremely family oriented. Mr. Rogers worked for Southern Pacific Railroad from 1946 until 1959. He owned and operated Service Plumbing Co. of Lafayette from 1962 until 1984 and was employed by the Lafayette Parish School Board as a bus driver, Bus #146. He was also a Veteran of the Army Air Force, having served in WWII as a gunnery instructor & aviation mechanic. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Rogers of Lafayette; one daughter, Debbie A. Atchison and her husband, Haynes of Parker, TX; four sons, Rodney D. Rogers and his wife, Cindy of Headland, AL, Michael J. Rogers and his wife, Joy of Maurice, LA, Kirk P. Rogers and his wife, Kathy of Lafayette, LA, and Tracy A. Rogers and his wife, Brenda of Lafayette, LA; nine grandchildren, Valerie Vinson and Zachary Rogers of Dothan, AL, Jessica and Jenna Atchison of Parker, TX, Will Morris and John Rogers of Lafayette, LA, Tucker, Taylar, and Tara Rogers of Lafayette,LA; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cora Mae Rogers of Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Juanita Picard of Lafayette, LA. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 8:00 am until Service time. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.
