CORA FREUND PATTERSON

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February, 20 2013 at Grace Presbyterian Church for Cora Freund Patterson, 87, who passed away on February 18, 2013 at Courtyard Manor at 5:15 am. Reverend John Wamsley, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Patterson, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Dr. John Freund and the former Dr. Mathilda Schmitt. Cora was born in New York State where she started her psychology career. She then met her beloved husband, Charlie, of 40 years, and moved around the world in pursuit of his career in the oilfield. She became a psychology teacher at USL and was very active in AAUW. Cora was an active member of P.E.O., LOVE, Inc., and served in many capacities at Grace Presbyterian Church. Cora was a loving wife, mother, Nana and Grand Nana. She enjoyed the time that she spent with her family. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Betty Heidbrink and husband Larry of Carencro, LA; three grandchildren, Joey Heidbrink and wife Lacie of Lafayette, LA, Tommy Heidbrink and wife Stacey of Cecilia, LA and Randy Heidbrink and wife Tasha of Franklin, LA; six great grandchildren, Madison Patin, Logan, Abigail, Connor, Owen and Cullen Heidbrink; one brother, Darral Freund of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Shaw Patterson, one son, Charles "Chardo" S. Patterson, and two brothers, Major General John "Fritz" Frederick Freund and Kurt William Freund. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Larry Heidbrink, Joey Heidbrink, Tommy Heidbrink, Randy Heidbrink and Darral J. Freund. Honorary pallbearer will be Darral Freund. The family wishes to thank Suzanne, Iggy, and all of the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, the staff of Gardenview Assisted Living, Janice Barnes and Paula Fields of Home Instead and Ms. Roberta Woods.
