Darrel Joseph Landry

Funeral Services will be held at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church for Darrel Joseph Landry, 71, who passed away on February 24, 2010 at 1:30 am at his residence. Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery. Mr. Landry, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Steve Landry and Emily Smith Landry of Lafayette, LA. Darrel Landry loved his wife and family tremendously and was better known as Paw-Paw by his 18 grandchildren. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. For many years he was a certified Hunter Safety Instructor. Darrel proudly served two years of active duty in the Navy and was stationed in Greece, Sicily, and Iceland. He was a salesman for over 40 years, and the owner of Educational Associates which specialized in Louisiana books. Darrel was a friend of Bill W. and a member of the New Way Group. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Michael Cain, Dr. Diana Fernandez, the staff at LGMC, and Heart of Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to a charity of your choice. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Evelyn Dugas Landry; his children, Darlene L. LeBlanc and husband Lorenz, Alane L. Meaux and husband Clayton,Jr., Steven G. Landry and his wife Katie, Julie L. Durand and her husband Pat, Amy L. Dupuis and her husband Tyson, Darrel Jude Landry and his wife Jennifer, Angie L. Miller and her husband Mike, Leah L. Barras and her husband Beau and Casey Paul Landry; eighteen grandchildren, Landon, Collin, Julien and Christian LeBlanc, Amanda, Christopher, Alyse, Joshua, Benjamin and Nicholas Meaux; Madison and Drew Landry; Regan, Grace and Reed Dupuis; Claire and Abbie Miller and Grant Barras. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Ian Joseph Landry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 10:00 am until one hour prior to service time. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be his sons, Steven, Darrel and Casey Landry and his "sons in love", Lorenz LeBlanc, Clayton Meaux, Tyson Dupuis, Pat Durand, Mike Miller and Beau Barras.
