A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025 in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Darrell James Boulet, 71, who passed away on February 16, 2025. Reverend Mark Derise, Pastor, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Jake Prejean will assist. Gift bearers will be Charli Boulet, Mackenzie Boulet and Vivian Berard. Lectors will be Crystal Boulet, Jené Boulet and Zoie Boulet. Darrell, also known as Poppa or Moon Dog, was a man of incredible character—Generous, Wise, Loyal, Humble, Inspirational, Honorable, Supportive, Selfless, Compassionate, Hardworking, Strong, and Brave. Poppa’s love for his family was boundless. He cherished his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to call him family. Above all, he was the devoted and loving husband to his queen, Sheila. Together, they shared countless cherished road trips and made a lifetime of lasting memories. Their bond was a shining example of love and partnership. Although a man of few words, Poppa was known to be right almost 99.9% of the time. He believed in living life one day at a time, filled with laughter, love, and presence. His favorite saying, "Don’t let the old man in," will forever echo in our hearts as a reminder of his youthful spirit, vitality, and zest for life. Poppa was a man of simple pleasures—he enjoyed a good cigar, a stylish fedora hat, and the melodies of Jimmy Buffett and Zydeco. As a lifelong golfer, he loved hitting the greens with friends and family. A man of deep, unwavering faith, Poppa was known for his wise counsel and strong moral compass. He gave great advice and served as a role model, not only to his sons and grandsons but to their friends as well. His presence was always a source of support and inspiration. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Poppa’s spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was truly one of a kind, and we will miss him dearly. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Darrell, a resident of Scott, was the son of the late Charles Boulet and the former Iva Broussard. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Boulet; children, Cody Boulet and wife, Crystal, Lance Boulet and wife, Jene', and Caleb Boulet; grandchildren, Morgan, Mackenzie, Drake, Zoie, Kaden, Charli, Bayli, and Kylee; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Anderson and husband, Gary, and brother, Charles Randy Boulet and wife, Sandra. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Taylor Kibodeaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:15 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Cody, Lance, Caleb, Drake, Kaden, and Randy Boulet. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Thompson and Todd Collette.
