Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Denise Ann Anderson, 65, who passed away on January 1, 2024. Rev. Glenn Turner, Pastor of Hopewell Methodist Church in Pitkin, LA, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Hampton Memorial Cemetery in Elizabeth, LA. Ms. Anderson, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Billie Palmer Anderson and the former Lillie Ann Hurst. Denise was born on March 29, 1958 in the small town of Elizabeth, Louisiana. She was the only daughter of four children. Throughout her early years she developed a skill and love of Basketball. During her High School years, she played Basketball and was the Editor of the Elizabeth Bulldogs yearbook. Denise spent her summers mowing grass and working at the local paper mill. After graduation, she entered LSU and soon thereafter was a walk on to the LSU Lady Tigers Basketball Team where she lettered during the 1977-78 Seasons. She continued to be one of Lady Tiger’s biggest fans. In 1981 Denise graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Social Welfare and completed coursework to obtain her master's degree. A college job at UPS turned into decades of a successful career where Denise was a pioneer being one of the first female managers working at many UPS facilities throughout the state. Denise had many skills and talents that include precision with calligraphy, neatly packing the perfect picnic lunch and paying attention to every detail of every task she was asked or chose to do. She loved to enjoy the great outdoors, traveling with Rene’, her life partner of 33 years, to visit family and friends and spent many hours on the waters of Cypremort Point, Indian Creek and Lake Ouachita, AR. Some of her fondest memories were spending time with her nieces and nephews during summertime visits to the creek. She loved a beautiful sunset. Denise spent numerous years creating an impressive Coca-Cola memorabilia collection and shared her mother’s interest in antiques. She is survived by her partner of 33 years, Michele René Hulin of Lafayette; brothers, Robert C. Anderson and husband, Weng Kuan Chan of Stuyvesant, NY; R. Gray Anderson and wife, Mollie of Elizabeth, LA; William "Bill" L. Anderson and wife, Sandy of Elizabeth, LA; nieces & nephews, Nathan Anderson (Mallory), Marybeth Anderson Aker (Will), Seth Anderson, Augustus Anderson (Maddie), Bailey Anderson, Clyde Anderson (Samantha), Laura Anderson, Faith Anderson, Rebekah Anderson, and Ansley Anderson; and numerous great-nieces & great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Lillie Anderson of Pineville, LA; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Loretta Smaihall Hurst of Elizabeth, LA; paternal grandparents, R.L. and Dacy Palmer Anderson of Beaumont, TX. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 2:00PM to 8:00PM. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 8:00AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Nathan Anderson, Seth Anderson, Augustus Anderson, Clyde Anderson, Neal Sonnier, and Will Aker.
