Diana Ruth Clark Nolan

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 14, 2025 in Covenant Methodist Church for Diana Ruth Clark Nolan, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Monday, March 10, 2025. A visitation will be held in Covenant Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Prior to the beginning of service, a "Passing of the Hats" will take place for all those interested in participating. Rev. Chris Blanchard will officiate the celebration of life. The inurnment will take place at a later date in the Lafayette Masonic Cemetery, alongside her beloved husband, Charles W. Nolan. Born June 23, 1938, in Houston, Texas, to Ruth Sims Clark and William Joseph "Bill" Clark. Being an "Oilfield Brat" she lived as far South as Mene Grande, Venezuela, and as far North as Scottsbluff, Nebraska and many, many places in Texas, finally settling in Lafayette, LA. She attended a total of 12 different schools in 12 different cities and states during her growing up years. She graduated from the "new" Lafayette High School in 1956, attended Jr. college in Nebraska and Spencer Business College in Lafayette. She worked with Francis Broussard at Service Chevrolet and then for The Superior Oil Company in the accounting department. A love of sports cars brought her to the love of her life, Charles W. Nolan. She and Charles were married on December 16, 1961 , and were happily married for 50 years until his untimely death in 2012. They worked together in the company Charles founded, Nolan Bearings, Inc. until their retirement. She and Charles had two children, Rebecka "Becky" Ruth (Thomas) Didier and Charles "Butch" (Carice) Nolan, Jr; five grandchildren, Zachary Michael Lee, Allison Ruth Didier (Daniel) Allemand, Timothy Clark Didier, Emily Kate Nolan, and Rory Finn Nolan. She, Charles, and their children enjoyed years of sailing on Vermilion Bay and were active members of the Cypremort Yacht Club. They enjoyed many happy times at the "camp", most times with nieces and nephews along. They gave up sailing for the Trawler Life and enjoyed may trips to Area Festivals, raft ups and cruises aboard "Take Time" with a wonderful trip to Florida. They were founding members of the Acadiana Power Squadron. Her love of children led to many civic activities; she was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and co-chaired a Cub Scout den as well. She was active in her church, beginning at Ivanhoe Methodist church where she taught Sunday School and as Ivanhoe became Church of the Covenant, she taught Vacation Bible School, fixed food for the "Charles Nolan Bull Sessions" for years and was a member of the Bell Choir; but her love was the puppet show during the Pumpkin Patch where she dressed in costume while reading to the children. Her civic responsibilities also included being a Pink Lady at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital; she was a member of New Acadians, Red Hats, Acadiana Republican Women, where she served for years as "Drawing Chair"; She was a Rainbow Girl, past Worthy Matron of Graces Chapter No. 240, Order of the Eastern Star, as well as secretary for a number of years and served as District Deputy Grand Matron in District 20 as well as District 19; she was secretary of Friends of the Library Board for many years, working sorting books and selling books at the book sales; she was treasurer of The Salvation Army Auxiliary; on the Festival des Fleur Committee; but her greatest love was the Lafayette Garden Club, serving several terms as secretary and was President for the 2017-2019 term and her special joy, being Cleanest City Chairman for a number of years, this job entailed the Anti-Litter poster contest among Parish Schools and the Cleanest Schools contest. Finally, she was involved P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and was later joined by her daughter, Rebecka, a point of great pride. She is survived by her two children, their spouses, and five grandchildren.
