Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 16, 2021 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Donald Eugene Fergus, 88, who passed away on July 13, 2021 at his residence. Reverend Linton Broussard will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Don enjoyed traveling, piddling in his shop, following all of his grandchildren/great grandchildren's sports, academic, and music and dance activities. His love for his family is epic and unconditional. Don was a true patriot in all rites. Don was a member of the Cruisin Cajuns and Lone Star Bounders RV clubs, in addition to being one of the founding members of the LA-ARK Roos RV Club. Don was employed by Pennzoil Oil Exploration and Production, Co., for 38 years as HR and Safety Manager. He proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. Don, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Claude Fergus and the former Helen Curtis. He is survived by children, Butch LeBlanc (Janeice), Claudia Fergus, Tricia Ward (Mike), Donna Brown (John), and Amy Prudhomme (Drew); grandchildren, Guy, Charlie, Causey, Tiffany, Ryan, Doni, Kayleigh, Marcy, Macie, Justin, and Blake; great grandchildren, Logan, Daylen, Jackson, Tallen, Blaize, Chloe, Bentley, Kayson, Lila, Emersyn, Brittyn, Lincoln, and Mila. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary Fergus; brother, Richard Fergus, and nephew, Rickey Fergus. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Charlie Ward, Guy Girouard, Logan Davenport, Jack Davenport, Justin Babineaux, Blake Babineaux, Tallen Girouard, and Chris Coates. Honorary Pallbearers are Butch LeBlanc, Harold Daire, and Alfred Trahan. Our family wishes to pay special tribute and thanks to Sheila Corbello, our Father's lifelong family friend and loving companion for the last seven years, after the death of their spouses. Our family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Voitier and his entire staff, special thanks to Christen and also Acadian Hospice for all of their dedication to our dearly loved father, grandfather and great grandfather.
