Douglas James Trumps

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Douglas James Trumps, 33, who passed away on January 16, 2011. Reverend Monsignor Richard Greene will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services along with Con-Celebrant, Reverend Paul Broussard. Burial will take place in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Mr. Trumps, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of Jerry Trumps of Lafayette, Louisiana and Becky Rushing of Houston, Texas. Doug enjoyed spending time with family, siblings and nephews. He was currently serving as a police officer with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department. In 2008, he was recognized as Officer of the Year while employed with the City of Scott Police Department. Doug was very passionate about his work as a police officer. He was a wonderful son and will be dearly missed. He is survived by mother Becky L. Rushing and husband David of Houston, TX; his father Jerry Trumps and his wife Cheryl of Lafayette, LA; one sister, Laurie Trumps of Lafayette; three brothers, Jarrod Trumps and his wife Jackie, Brian Trumps and wife Kerri, and Patrick Trumps all of Lafayette; maternal grandparents, Paul A. and Ann Letteer of Lafayette; paternal grandfather, James L. Trumps and his wife Bernadine of Alexandria; and three nephews, Jarrod Trumps, Jr., Donavon Cole, and Kaleb Champagne all of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rita C. Trumps. The family requests that visiting hours be observe at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Jarrod Trumps, Brian Trumps, Patrick Trumps, Ryan Trumps, Chris Kremheller, and Mike Kelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be his uncles Chris Trumps and Guy Letteer, Brent Taylor, Sheriff Louis M. Ackal and all of the members of the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to The Jacob Crouch Foundation at 2851 Johnston Street, PMB # 282 , Lafayette, Louisiana 70503, or to the charity of your choice.
