Dwaine Michael Welch

A Memorial Service will be held at Family Life Church on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 4:00PM for Dwaine Michael Welch, 53, who passed away on May 31, 2018. Inurnment will take place at St. James Cemetery in Sheridan, OR. Mr. Welch, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the Lorand Welch and the former Christiana Irving. Dwaine moved from Oregon to Louisiana in early 2015 and embraced the Cajun Culture like a pro. He learned to love eating crawfish, fishing in the bayou, Mardi Gras and Festivals. Dwaine especially loved the holidays when the firework stands would come alive. Before becoming ill, Dwaine enjoyed his job at Deano Hardwoods in Broussard and loved the physical challenge of the day-to-day work. He was able to keep up with people half his age. During his time in Louisiana, Dwaine was able to reconnect with his family and find true love. He enjoyed reminding his twin sister that he was a “Great-Great” uncle and she was just “Great” Granna. All will dearly miss Dwaine. He is survived by his sons, Michael Welch and wife Samantha, and Anthony Welch both of Salem, OR; parents, Lorand Dwaine Welch and Christiana Delight Welch; twin sister, Dianne Marie Santana and husband Bob of Lafayette, LA; sisters, Joyce Welch and husband Mitch of Keizer, OR, Wilma Welch of Salem, OR; brothers, Johnny Welch and wife Karen, Chris Welch, and Mark Welch all of Salem, OR; Louisiana and Oregon nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great niece and nephews. He is also survived by his fiancée, Ann Marie Deskin. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Lorand Welch and Katherine Lucille Gilbert; and maternal grandparents, Webster Charles Irving and Wilma Josephine Brandon. The family would like to thank his nieces, Christina Fails (James), Kayla Santana (John Michael), Lyla Thibodeaux (Christopher), and Ashley Santana (Vic), and long time friend, Nikki Hoffman for assisting the family during this difficult time.
