Edith Louise Girouard

Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 13, 2006 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard for Edith Louise Girouard, 83, who passed away on Friday, November 10, 2006 at her residence in Broussard, La. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Broussard. Rev. Louis J. Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services. Mrs. Girouard, the daughter of the late Dennis Bernard and the former Nina Mae Bernard, was a lifelong resident of Broussard. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She enjoyed life, always had a smile and loved and lived for her family and friends. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all she knew. She will be missed dearly. Survivors include her husband, Paul Roy Girouard; three daughters, Charlette Girouard and companion, Pat Broussard; Wanda Dore' and husband, Felton; and Sheila Decou and companion, Johnny Caffey all of Broussard, La; one son, Paul Richard Girouard and wife, Linda of Gretna, La; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Dupre', Byron Decou, Angelique Schultz, Andrea O' Dowd, Royce Girouard, Edie Dore' and Nicole Dore; nine great-grandchildren, Jena Decou, Billy and Broc Decou, Gaven LeCompte, Devin and Haiden Dupre', Britani Webre, Lakeyn and Camryn Schultz; five sisters, Aggie Girouard, Mae Mae Suru, Aline Duhon, Betty Girouard and Rose Ste. Marie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Bernard; one brother, L.D. 'Uncle Joe' Bernard and one grandson, Lance Decou. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Karen Roden and staff, Dr. Stephen Darbonne and staff and St. Theresa's Hospice and Palliative Care. Visiting hours will be observed Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard from 11:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 12:00 pm in the church. Pallbearers will be Byron Decou, Royce Girouard, Mark O'Dowd, Cory Dupre', Louis Schultz, Dana Dore' and Johnny Suru. Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Dupre', Billy Decou, Broc Decou and Gaven Lecompte.
