Edith H. Lalande

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for Edith Hebert LaLande, 100, who passed away on November 1, 2010 at 4:45 am at her residence. Reverend Gregory Simien, Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. Mrs. LaLande, a resident of Leroy, LA, was the daughter of the late Lastie Hebert of Leroy, Louisiana and the former Marie Fabre of Leroy, Louisiana. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Leroy and was a member of the Ladies Alter Society, devoted to our Blessed Mother, she loved to pray and watched EWTN faithfully. She was a wonderful seamstress, cook and a friend to anyone she met. Her gardening and flowering skills were works of art and she loved to fish and be outdoors, keeping busy with her hands. Her memory was excellent and was so happy when Hebert reunions were held so she could tell of family history, the last one being dedicated to her when she was 94 years old. She endured the pain of many surgeries and the care of her husband in his last illness. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt and everyone who knew her will miss her smile and her kindness and love of life. She is survived by her son, Paul T. Lalande; two grandsons, Michael J. Lalande and his wife Terry, and David P. Lalande and his wife Cathy; great-grandson, Christopher J. Lalande and his wife Rachelle; great great grandson, Daniel A. Lalande; step great grandson, Austin M. Domingue as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dewey Lalande; sisters, Anita Landry, Ada Broussard, Amy Dartez, Effie Broussard, Elina Landry, Edia Prejean and Emedia Hebert as well as her brothers, Elix Hebert and Ellis Hebert. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of services. Pallbearers will be David LaLande, Mike LaLande, Chris LaLande, Daniel LaLande, Kenneth Landry and Willie Broussard.
