Elaine Ruth Broussard

Funeral Services will be held at a 3:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 29, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Elaine M. Broussard, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Maison De Lafayette. Reverend John De Leeuw, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Broussard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late James McCown and the former Bessie Sonnier. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Our Lady of Fatima Church Parish. She was a local artist who loved oil painting landscape scenery natural to this area and crocheting many family blankets, and cooking. She was the former owner and worked with her husband "Bruce" of Bruce's Supply for over 38 years. She is survived by five daughters, Patricia Jones of Lafayette, Ellen Simon and husband Sidney "Jimmy" of Lafayette, Mary Virginia Broussard and Moe Soltani of Lafayette, Cheryle Burnam of Lafayette, and Suzanne Broussard-Armstrong and husband Larry of Prescott, AZ; sister-in-law, Maggie Sonnier of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Susan Broussard of Ponchatoula, LA; several nieces and nephews from Louisiana, Texas, and California; grandchildren include, Angela Jones, Charlie Jones and wife Lacy of LaPlace, LA, Christopher Simon and wife Susan of Kansas City, KS, Byron Simon and wife Vanessa Williams of Lafayette, Jonathon Simon and wife Bridgett of Seattle, WA, Arthur Simon of Rayne, Jeffery Simon of Kansas City, MO, Virginia Simon of New Orleans, LA, Jean Paul Broussard of Lafayette, LA, Catherine Franz of Lafayette,LA, Donald King and wife Silvanna of Lafayette,LA, and Deborah Broussard of Baton Rouge; great grandchildren include, Kellie, Theresa, Maria, and Angelic Jones, Adrien and Jace Simon, Emily Franz, and Ashton Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon J. Broussard; one son, Donald James Broussard; and one brother, Daniel Sonnier. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Friday evening in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Christopher Simon, Byron Simon, Jonathon Simon, Arthur Simon, Jeffery Simon, Jean Paul Broussard, Donald King, and Charlie Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Armstrong, Sidney "Jimmy" Simon, Moe Soltani, and Ray Burnam.
