Emma Jean Nepveux

Funeral service will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 9:00 AM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers, for Emma Jean Nepveux, 81, who passed away Thursday, August 03, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center. The Very Rev. Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, JCL, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery. Mrs. Nepveux was the daughter of the late Lucien C. Bertrand Sr. of Saint Martinville, LA, and the former Mary Runte of Lake Charles, LA. Mrs. Nepveux was a graduate of SLI. She retired from the Lafayette Public Library after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Louisiana Library Association. She was also a member of the St. Jules Catholic Church Community. Prior to becoming a librarian, Mrs. Nepveux was an Elementary School Teacher in Hathaway, Louisiana. Although she had no children, she was like a grandmother to us all. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Sandy Blanchard, Dan Bertrand and wife, Sophie, Don Bertrand and wife, Gaywynn, Russell Bertrand, Todd Bertrand, and John Dugas; great nieces and nephews, Amy Lorch and husband, Michael, Adrienne Bertrand, Meryl Bertrand, Lindsay Bertrand, Carly Bertrand, Michael Bertrand, Will Bertrand, and Christopher Bertrand, Sido Gaude', Chanel Gaude', and Carisse Gaude'; and great-great nieces and nephews, Lilly Wells, Samantha Lorch, Derek Lorch and David Lorch. Cousin Diana Bertrand. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilson Nepveux; one sister, Delores Bertrand; one brother, Judge Lucien C. Bertrand, Jr.; and one nephew, William 'Bill' F. Bertrand, Sr. She is also survived by her traveling companions, Ione McManus, Ruth Brown, Bobbie Camos, and Kathleen Myers. Visiting hours will be observed Friday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM and will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until service time. A rosary will be prayed Friday at 5:30 PM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will include Ricky Brown, Kent Brown, Steven Brown, Craig Brown, Michael Lorch, and Will Bertrand. Honorary Pallbearers will include Harold Brown and Jack W. Scarbrock, and Dick Scarbrock.
