ERIC JAMES DWYER

A Memorial Mass will be held at a 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2013, in The Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Eric James Dwyer, 61, who passed away on Thursday February 28, 2013 at his residence in Lafayette, LA. Reverend Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Dwyer was in the last class that graduated from Judice High School in 1969. He enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard and served for several years as a specialist. He then attended Technical Training for crane certification and inspection as well as safety and first aid certifications. He worked for Global Industries for thirty two years in various capacities. His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, cooking, fishing and visiting Pensacola Beach Florida. Eric was the ultimate handy man. He is survived by his mother, Mazel Champagne Dwyer; daughter, Erica Dwyer; his son, Patrick Dwyer; sister, Patsy D. Costas; niece, Roxanna C. Oliver and her husband Rick; great nephew, Owen Oliver; nephew, Ricky Costas and his wife Julie; great niece, Caroline and his great nephew, Bradley Costas. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins; three furry children, Patches, Orion, and Sage and his scaly friends, Lizzy and Perseus. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert "Pat" Dwyer; his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday March 3, 2013 from 12:00 pm until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm Sunday in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Dwyer's name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73123-1718, or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
