Expadie J. Laperouse Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in St. Pius X Catholic Church for Expadie J. Laperouse Jr., 85, who passed away on July 27, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Fr. Hampton Davis, Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Expadie, affectionately known as "Kani" or "Pop", a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Expadie Joseph Laperouse Sr. and the former Adele Boudreaux. Kani graduated from SLI, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he lettered in football and baseball. He then graduated as a Physical Therapist from the Hermann School of Physical Therapy in Houston. Kani founded the Physical Therapy Clinic of Lafayette, Inc., which was the first private outpatient physical therapy practice in Lafayette. He was instrumental in educating the local medical community on the benefits of physical therapy, as well as the general public. Kani was one of the founding members of the Physical Therapy Provider Network (PTPN) in Louisiana and Mississippi. He was inducted into the Louisiana Physical Therapy Hall of Fame in 2007, after practicing Physical Therapy for 45 years. He had a love for sports evidenced by his commitment and dedication to helping countless student-athletes throughout Acadiana. Kani was actively involved in his church parish, St. Pius X, as a council member, Eucharistic minister and member of the Knights of Columbus. His life was spent serving God, helping those in need, and taking care of his family. Kani was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Linda, for 57 years. Pop was an amazing father, adoring grandfather, dependable brother, and loyal friend. Kani never met a stranger and could not wait to greet you with his "infamous" handshake. Pop will be greatly missed for his gentle spirit and joie de vivre. "Lache Pas la Patate, Pop!" He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie L. Stevenson (William), Charlotte L. Segura (Paul), Kristine Laperouse, and Danielle L. Farris (Chad); sons, Expadie Laperouse III (Paige) and Patrick Laperouse (Jenny); grandchildren, William Stevenson IV (Hailey), Andrew Stevenson (Michelle), Matthew Stevenson, Joshua Stevenson, Lynden Segura, Hunter James, Kourtney Blackwell, Katherine Blackwell, Dylan Blackwell, Camille Farris, Jake Farris, Graham Farris, Caroline Farris, Expadie Laperouse IV, Julia Laperouse, Madeline Laperouse, Grace Laperouse, Olivia Laperouse, and Nicholas Laperouse; great-grandchildren, Liam Stevenson, Landon Stevenson, and Renee Stevenson; sister, Marie L. Hebert; brother, Kenneth Laperouse (Linda); brother-in-law, Chris Barras (Cathy); and sister-in-laws, Renee Hebert (Randy) and Laurence Barras. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Linda Ann Barras Laperouse; grandson, Michael Farris; parents, Expadie and Adele Laperouse; sisters, Madeline L. Chimento, Rita L. Fuselier, Vernice L. Derouen, and Mildred L. Reed; brothers, Louis Laperouse, James Laperouse, Anthony Laperouse, and Francis Laperouse; sister-in-law, Diane B. Jacobs; and brother-in-law, Michael Barras. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 12:00 PM on Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be William Stevenson IV, Andrew Stevenson, Matthew Stevenson, Joshua Stevenson, Lynden Segura, Hunter James, Expadie Laperouse IV, Dylan Blackwell, and Jake Farris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Barras, Larry Boullion, Buddy Hebert, Roy Poche, Jimmy Dupuis, Norman Braud, and Albert Hough. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Paula Courville, Monique Chautin, Michelle Minor, Viola Walker, Fay Tucker, and Lee Delfrey, and all the medical staff involved with his care.
