Frances Ione MacDiarmid

Funeral services will be held at 11:45 AM on Monday, January 19, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Frances Ione MacDiarmid, 92, who passed away on January 15, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Reverend Perry Sanders, Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. MacDiarmid, a longtime resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Rufus Turner Watson and the former Fannie Whitehurst Watson. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and in her later years continued her worship through the First Baptist Church Television Ministry. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and loving friend to all that knew her. She enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, reading and painting. She touched the lives of all those she came in contact with and will be greatly missed. She is survived by two sons, Steven Douglas MacDiarmid and his wife, Charlotte of Lafayette and Mark William MacDiarmid and his wife, Sandy of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Meadow Dawn MacDiarmid of Lafayette, Katy MacDiarmid-Leach of Orlando, Florida, Steven "Doug" MacDiarmid, Jr. of Lafayette, Sean William MacDiarmid of Houston, Texas, Laura Elizabeth MacDiarmid of Lafayette, Colin Mark MacDiarmid of Houston, Texas and Andrew Devin MacDiarmid of Houston, Texas; two great grandchildren, Noah Paul MacDiarmid of Lafayette and Gavin Michael Leach of Orlando, Florida; and one sister, Gloria Watson Bibeau of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas William 'Moxie' MacDiarmid; one son, Paul Dibb MacDiarmid; two brothers, Rufus "Buster" Watson and Turner Watson; and six sisters, Arlene W. Ezell, Thelma W. Spencer, Catherine W. Perry, Inez W. McGill, Willie Mae W. Brett and Alice Watson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 9:30 am until time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Doug MacDiarmid, Sean MacDiarmid, Colin MacDiarmid, Andrew MacDiarmid, Scott Bibeau and Donald Spencer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Watson, Jeff Watson, Dennis Jackson and Wayne Bibeau. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Jonas Richard, and Hospice of Acadiana.
