Francis Elliott Lindsey

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, 1100 Lee Avenue, Lafayette LA, for Frances Elliott Lindsey, 91, who passed away on October 24, 2022 at her residence. Luther Burney, Minister to Senior Adults at First Baptist Church of Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Olla Cemetery in Olla, LA. Mrs. Lindsey, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Marshall Allen Elliott, Sr. and the former Kate Prestridge. Frances was born in Olla, LA, on September 6, 1931. She grew up in Olla and graduated from the Olla Standard High School. She continued her studies at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Frances married the love of her life, James Watson Lindsey, and they raised a family of three boys in Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Nebraska, North Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky. After being a homemaker for most of her boys’ lives, she began working outside the home as the receptionist at the First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, KY. Returning to Louisiana, she continued in the ministry to the Lord as a receptionist at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria and, most recently, at the First Baptist Church of Lafayette. She worked as a church receptionist, in total, for over 40 years. Talented vocally, she sang in church choirs for most of her adult life. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and most importantly she was a believer in Christ. She is survived by her two sons, Gregg Lindsey and his wife Karen of Corpus Christi, TX, and Lt Col (Retired) Kirby Lindsey and his wife Joan of Niceville, FL; daughter-in-law, Connie Lindsey of Rosefield, LA; six grandsons, Joshua Lindsey and his wife Rae of Olla, LA, Kellen Lindsey and his wife Lindsay of Jacksonville, FL, Seth Lindsey and his wife Jessie of Rosefield, LA, Jackson Lindsey and his wife Claire of Corpus Christi, TX, Ian Lindsey and his fiancée Madeline of Atlanta, GA, and Grant Lindsey and his wife Kimberly of Boerne, TX; four great-granddaughters, Presley Kate Lindsey of Olla, LA, Chloe and Jenny Lindsey of Corpus Christi, TX, and Cora Lindsey of Boerne, TX; four great-grandsons, Dane Lindsey of Olla, LA, Caden and Conrad Lindsey of Boerne, TX, and Cameron Lindsey of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, many close friends, and her loving caregivers that provided wonderful care and companionship. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Watson Lindsey; son, Mark Elliott Lindsey; parents, Marshall and Kate Elliott; and brothers, Marshall Allen Elliott Jr and James Robert Elliott. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at First Baptist Church of Lafayette on November 12, 2022 from 1:00 pm until the time of service. In remembrance of Mrs. Frances E. Lindsey’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to First Baptist Church of Lafayette Pre-School Ministries where she spent many hours rocking babies in the nursery.
