Frank Wilson Marks OD

Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. Mary Church for Frank Wilson Marks, OD, 93, who passed away on June 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at residence. Reverend Harold Trahan, Pastor of St. Mary Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Marks, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Luce Marks of Arnaudville, Louisiana and the former Claudia Martin of Arnaudville, Louisiana. He was a member of St. Mary Church. Dr. Marks was born on December 27, 1918 and grew up on a farm in Arnaudville, LA. He entered the service in 1941 and was an Army CPL in WWII serving as a Gun Director until 1945. He studied Optometry in Chicago and opened his own clinic on Jefferson Street in 1950 where he offered examinations in English and French until 1988. He was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. He enjoyed telling war stories, hunting and fishing and gardening. He was an inspiration to all who met him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beth Marks of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Mary Beth Aron of Metairie, LA; one son, Lloyd L. Marks and wife Sherran of Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren, Tim Aron, Christine Aron, and Kirsten Marks; five great grandchildren, Nicholas Aron, Brock Aron, Madison Bertrand, Ramsey Aron, and Gavan Aron; three sisters, Leonie Trahan, Edith Olivier Arnaud, and Joyce Taylor and two brothers, Roman Marks, and Luce Marks, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son in law, Mike Aron, three brothers, Clifford Marks, Saul Marks and Dewey Marks. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 8:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Banyon Dupuy, Glenn Bourque, Jay Owen, Beau Phares, Rodger Bagwell, and Allie Watts. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Richard Fei, Marjorie Pellerin, Ella Mae Thibodeaux, Jackie Ohlinger and Sandra Jenkins, Father Francis- Christ The King, and Angie Stoutes.
