Fred Stanley Moore

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, November 19, 2018 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mr. Fred Stanley Moore, 95, who passed away on November 13, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will conduct the funeral services. Inurnment will take place at St. John Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Moore, a native of New Iberia, and a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Charlie and Dora Martin Moore as well as the grandson of the late Dr. George Armand "G.A." Martin. Stanley enlisted in the Army Air Force on Dec. 7, 1942. He was a member of the 435th Troop Carrier Group, 75th Squadron. While stationed in England and France during World War II, his squadron participated in the D-Day invasion in Normandy, Rome-Arno, Northern France, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central European Campaigns. After returning home from the war, he graduated from S.L.I. (now ULL) in 1949 and received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Moore worked 10 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad in the division engineer office in Lafayette. He also worked for 30 years for the Louisiana Dept. of Transportation and Development as a registered Civil Engineer. In 1984 he retired as District Laboratory Engineer. Stanley was a charter member of the Louisiana Engineering Society in Civil Service. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and traveling with the Louisiana Acadiana Airstream Club. Mr. Moore was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Brenda Claire Moore of Lafayette (her children: Lance Francois of Broussard and Aaron Francois married to Sarah Bowie Francois of Youngsville and their children Michael, Kate and Logan Francois), Stan Martin Moore married to Sharon Peavey Moore of Lafayette, Charlotte Moore Cornay (her child, Jennifer Claire) both of Lafayette, Clark Clement Moore married to Shelley Broussard Moore of Youngsville and Charlie James Moore of Lafayette (stepdaughter, Victoria Richard of Delcambre). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Cynthia Ann Deshotels Moore; parents, Charlie and Dora Martin Moore; infant son, Joseph Moore; sisters, Annie Mae Moore, Rita Bernard, Lucille Duncan and Charlie Thibodaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home- Bertrand on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Charlie Moore, Lance Francois and Aaron Francois. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Mr. Moore's physicians, nurses and caregivers that were so compassionate and took such good care of him during his final years.
