George Ann Rutherford Hall

Funeral Services will be held at a 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Episcopal Church of the Ascension for George Ann Hall, 91, who died peacefully in her home Sunday, April 29, 2007. She was a native of Marshall, Texas, and a resident of Lafayette for 67 years. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the funeral Mass. The Rev. Larry G. Wilkes, Pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension will conduct the services. Con Celebrant will be Father Duane E. Peterson. George Ann was born August 14, 1915, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Lillian and Robert Rutherford. She was a member of the Blue Bonnet Belles while attending the University of Texas in Austin. There she met W. Harmon Hall on a blind date and discovered they were both from the same town and the same street in Marshall, Texas. They were married January 17, 1938. They moved to South Louisiana with the Texas Company in 1940 and raised three children. She was a gracious lady who was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension and various Church groups, and a member of the DAR and the UDC. She was a charter member of Oakbourne Country Club and once received the title of Best Dressed in Lafayette. She was very active in several Bridge Clubs and in Leur D'Metier. George Ann is survived by her sons George Hall and William H. Hall, Jr. (Scotty) and his wife, Jill; her daughter, Susan and her husband, Fred Terrell of Fairhope, Alabama; her grandchildren, Fay Lynn Hall, married to Dave Cavalier, Jena Hall, married to Jonathan Costello, Monica Terrell, married to Colin Taylor, Brett and William Robert Hall; her great-grandchildren, Elaine, Grant, Anna and Leah Cavalier, Ryan and Even Costello and Harmon Cameron Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Harmon Hall, Sr., her brother, Robert Rutherford, and her grandson, Danny Harmon Hall. The family requests that visiting hours be observed in the Owen Room at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension form 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon Wednesday. Pallbearers will by Guy Ellison, Donald Higginbotham, Al Pfeuffer, Fred Terrell, George Womack and Robert Dunham.
