A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in St. Edmond Catholic Church for George Dashiell Skinner, 67, who passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 7, 2024, following a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Fr. Gilbert J. Dutel will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Immediately following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will be held in The Room at The Corner Bar from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The burial will take place at a later date in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery. George, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Virgil Masters Skinner and the former Patricia Ann Dashiell. He is survived by his children, Rachel Skinner Brunt (Trey), Paige Skinner-deClouet, and Brad J. Reaux (Jayd); grandchildren, Lily Brunt, Frances deClouet, Ruthie deClouet, Fletcher deClouet, and Rosalie Fontenot; the mother of his children, Karen A. Reaux; siblings, Deborah Skinner Terro, Virgil Skinner Jr (Jody), Annette Skinner, and Tim Skinner (Denice); faithful canine companion, "Gunner"; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Patricia Skinner. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM. Pallbearers will be Brad Reaux, Trey Brunt, Tim Skinner, Virgil Skinner Jr, Benjamin Skinner, Hunter Hebert, A.J. Hebert, and Parker Alleman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fletcher deClouet, Richard West, Michael Garrett, and Dave Morley. George's children would like to thank Dr. Philippe Prouet, Dr. Juan Perez, Dr. Ted Gillespie, and Krystle Broussard Lafleur, NP, for the compassionate care given their "Daddy" in his time of need. In memory of George, the family encourages all who celebrate his life to take a trip to the beach with their loved ones and "sink your toes in the sand".
