Gladys Marie Delcambre

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2006, at a 9:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel for Gladys Delcambre, 95, the former Mary Gladys Hebert, who died at 9:00 am Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Baylor University Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. Internment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. The Rev. Fr. Keith J. Derouen, Rector of the Cathedral of the St. John the Evangelist will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and conduct the funeral services. Jan LeBlanc, grand-niece will do the readings and grand-nephews, Gary and Jeffrey LeBlanc will be altar servers. Music selections for the service will be; 'Be Not Afraid', 'Ave Maria', 'Jirae La Voir Un Jour', 'On Eagles Wings', and 'Peace I Leave With You', performed by Jodi Bollich, vocalist and accompanied by Tom Niel, organist. Left to mourn are her daughter, Harriet Ann Mitchell and her husband, Charles J. Mitchell of Euless, TX; three grandsons Charles Mitchell, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, John Mitchell and his wife, Veronica, all of Dallas, TX and David Mitchell and his wife, Victoria of Austin, TX; four great-grandchildren, Cavin, Wade, Marek Mitchell and Tyler Smith. She was known as 'Nanny' to three generations of nieces and nephews; Lee Cano of Carbondale, CO, Dr. Allyn Cano of Los Angeles, Ca, Del Rene Nicholson of Ontario, CA, Gail Freese of New Iberia, Dianne Johnson of Dolores, CO and Janice McNeil of Lafayette. Her nephews are; D.J. Hebert of Lafayette, Charles Hebert of Whittier, CA, John Hebert of Lake Charles, Bernard Hebert of Rancho Mirage, CA and Johnny Delcambre of New Iberia. Mrs. Delcambre was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilson John Delcambre of New Iberia; her parents, Charles and Dora Hebert; one brother, Didier Joseph Hebert; one sister Mathilde H. Olivier and one nephew, Carlton Hebert. The family expresses grateful thanks to her faithful neighbors, Bill and Betty Lowry, Vera Breaux, Bernice Collins, Josette Delahoussaye, Eloise Desormeaux and Sadie Anderson who helped with her care in later years. Mrs. Delcambre was employed by Heymann's Department Store for many years and she and her husband were proprietors of Del and Lee's Restaurant. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm, Friday in Delhomme Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David and John Mitchell; grand nephews, Joey Hebert, Van T. McNeil, Keith Johnson, Terry Smith, Gary LeBlanc and Louey Lowry. Honorary pallbearers; D.J. Hebert, John Hebert and Bill Lowry. Visitation will be observed from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday and Saturday from 7:30 am until time of services.
