Gloria Dale "Chookie" Ritchey

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. Pius X Church for Gloria Dale Simon Ritchey, 90, who passed away on November 7, 2018. Reverend Ken Domingue, Pastor of St. John Berchmans Church in Cankton will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Con-Celebrant will be Reverend James Brady, Pastor of St. Pius X Church. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Gloria graduated from SLI in 1949 and was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, National Guard Wives Auxillary, and the Catholic Daughters. She worked as office manager for Benny Ritchey Real Estate and Insurance. She loved to cook and care for her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Gloria, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Clarence Simon and the former Louise Alleman. She is survived by her children, Deborah R. Mahony and husband, Robert, Benjamin E. Ritchey, Jr., James D. Ritchey, Christopher P. Ritchey and wife, Nancy, Cynthia R. Brignac and husband, Peter, William E. Ritchey and wife, Tina, Jennifer R. Broussard and husband, Paul, Barbara R. Alleman and husband, Steve, Patricia R. Haney and husband, Patrick, and Richard D. Ritchey and wife, Christine; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin E. "Benny" Ritchey; siblings, Col. C.G. Simon, Jr., Nevelyn S. Frink, and Mary Mae Simon; great granddaughter, Harmony Rose Ritchey; step granddaughter, Meredith Mahony-Mueller, and step great granddaughter, Mallory Rose Mahony. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1:00PM until 8:00PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 9:00AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be James D. Ritchey, Christopher P. Ritchey, Richard D. Ritchey, Robert M. Mahony, Peter Brignac, Patrick Haney, Matthew E. Mahony and Blake Ritchey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benjamin E. Ritchey, Jr., William Ritchey, Paul Broussard, Steve Alleman, Thomas Sims and Daniel Ritchey. The family would like to thank her caregivers for their compassionate care.
