Glynn Rozas

Glynn Rozas was a loving man of faith. He passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the age of 94. He was a native of Chataignier, LA born August 24, 1930 to Dassas "Kai" and Lula Rozas and was a longtime resident of Lafayette, LA. He is survived by his wife, Julia Verheugen Rozas, of 52 years; two stepdaughters, Karen Call Listi and her husband, Dr. Dean and Eileen Call Thompson and her husband, Morey; 5 grandchildren, Maria Listi Montet (Marc), Dean Listi, Jr. (Catherine), Julie Ann Listi Montgomery (William), Nathanial Thompson, and Elizabeth Thompson; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, "Kai" and Lula Rozas; and his brother, Dr. Earl Rozas. Glynn grew up in Chataignier and graduated from Chataignier High School in 1947, where he played the trumpet in the high school band. He graduated from SLI (ULL) in 1951 with a degree in Agricultural Vocational Education. He attended Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA and St. Mary College in Kentucky. He worked hard in the many different avenues of his life. Glynn worked at the SLI Dairy Farm during college. He taught agricultural education, and worked with Southwest Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Lafayette, and had many other jobs. Glynn then went on to Loyola Law School in New Orleans and graduated in 1971. In 1972, he married Julia Verheugen Call. Glynn and Julia moved with their daughters to Lafayette. Glynn was a partner in the law firm of McBride, Foret, Rozas and Leonard. He practiced law for 46 years. Glynn was involved in many civic organizations. He was a member of the Lafayette Bar Association, the Civitans, the Serra Club, the Southwest Rehabilitation Center, and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Glynn had a green thumb and enjoyed "puffing" on a good cigar. He also did beautiful carpentry work. You could often find Glynn at the round table at Mel's Diner where he stopped for coffee with friends. He was always a good listener and a wonderful counselor. He was a giving person to anyone who needed his help. Glynn will be missed by many whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank Hearts of Hospice and all of his caregivers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025 in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:40 AM on Friday morning in the church. Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will officiate the funeral service. Burial immediately following the Mass in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Glynn's memory.
