Harvey Lee Broussard

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Harvey Lee Broussard, 86, who passed away on April 26, 2016. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, JCL, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Harvey, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Harry Broussard and the former Pearl Rodrigue. Harvey was a graduate of Cathedral Carmel High School. He retired from Sears after 35 years as Appliance Department Manager. Harvey enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1948 and was Honorably Discharged in 1956, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church and was active in the St. Jules Knights of Columbus. Harvey was an avid sailor and boating enthusiast, who was an active member of the Cypremort Point Yacht Club, serving as Commodore where he enjoyed numerous races and gatherings with friends. He also loved traveling and camping with his wife, Ruth and working outdoors on his farm property. In retirement Harvey spent countless hours entertaining his grandchildren who he cherished. Above all, Harvey was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Sellers Broussard; his daughter, Joan Moody and her husband, Daniel; two grandchildren, Ellen and Ben Moody; one sister, Sable Hidalgo and one brother, Hubert Broussard and his wife, Gaynell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Harvey’s name to St. Jules Catholic Church, 116 St. Jules Street, Lafayette, LA 70506 or to St. Thomas More Catholic School, 450 E.
