Hazel D. Myers

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Hazel Dugas Myers, 89, who passed away on May 10, 2025. Fr. Gilbert Dutel will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum. Mrs. Myers, a resident of Scott, was the daughter of the late Claby Dugas and the former Bernice Arceneaux. Hazel proudly served the City of Scott as Mayor for 22 years; she always said her biggest achievement was starting Scott's National Day of Prayer. An active member in her community, she loved and strongly advocated for all team sports, but especially basketball. Hazel was also a proud member of the Catholic Daughters and the French Table group. Hazel loved fishing & crabbing and anything "to do outdoors"; in fact, her and Willie were members of the Lafayette Boat Club for many years. Lastly, she enjoyed traditional French Music and her Friday evening jam sessions at the Begnaud House. Hazel was tour-de-force for her community, but most of all she will be remembered & dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Rachelle Myers Beasley and husband Jeramie Beasley; son; Raphael Myers, Sr. and wife Mary Prejean Myers; seven grandchildren, Raphael (Rachel) Myers Jr., Gabriel (Ruthanne) Myers, Naomi M. (Mitchell) Lancon, Jeremy Mouton, Heath Mouton Sr., Raven Boone and Brayden Beasley; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Willie Myers; daughter, Sherry Myers Mouton; great-granddaughters, Jaydlon and Ashton Mouton; parents, Claby and Bernice Dugas; and infant brother, Earl Dugas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. The pallbearers will be Raphael Myers Jr., Gabriel Myers, Jeramie Beasley, Brayden Beasley, Heath Mouton Sr, and Heath Mouton Jr. The honorary Pallbearers will be Gregory Mouton and William "T-Bill" Stelly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Calcutta House – Hospice of Acadiana.
